Coordinated Audit on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution
The initiative for conducting a Coordinated Audit on the Protection of the Black Sea against Pollution was introduced by the SAI of Ukraine in the meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing during the XII INTOSAI Congress held in Doha on 25-29 January 2009.
SAIs of Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine (audit coordinator), Russian Federation, and Georgia decided to participate in the coordinated audit signing the Common Position on Cooperation for the Coordinated Audit of Protection of the Black Sea against Pollution in May 2010.
The audit objective was to assess the implementation of commitments resulting from international agreements and collaborative projects on prevention of disasters and catastrophes and pollution of the Black Sea marine environment as well as to monitor and assess the efficiency while utilizing the public funds allocated to this end.
